The alien artefact

This artwork presents a dramatic nighttime view on an irregularly-shaped extraterrestrial object embedded in the surface of a faraway planet, possibly crashed into it centuries, or even longer ago. The artefact appears to be used now as a site for study of a mysterious civilisation that had sent this object into space, attracting various neighbouring galactic cultures, as indicated by school excursion groups consisting of reptiles, octopuses and human children that wander around the artefact’s top or play inside its compartments. The surrounding space remains a dangerous area though, judging by the meteorites and laser beams shooting through the near-black skies over the artefact. Mysterious statues of strange creatures perched on the rocky slopes around it, possibly ancient alien heroes, can be also discerned in the surrounding dark expanses.

This image was created through multi-stage upscaling and recasting of an older AI-generated picture in the img2img mode. (Shown as the 2nd image in the project batch is the 'fractal' generated in September 2023 with Prompt Hunt that served as the basis for it.) The tools used were Forge WebUI with the AlbedoBaseXl model and, at a later stage, Topaz Labs’ Generative Upscale. The final version was done with Krita AI Hires in which it had undergone a laborious inpainting. The image became a part of the Fractal cameos series which featured artworks of a similar origin.
